Prepare a calendar export carefully

Review selected task dates before exporting them for manual import into a calendar you control.

For: People planning task dates

The useful outcome: A calendar-export checklist

1. Decide which dates merit a calendar entry

Export only dates that help with planning. Check each task title and due date first; vague tasks make ambiguous all-day calendar events.

  • Check task name and due date
  • Skip dates that are not useful
  • Correct vague task titles

2. Understand all-day dates

A task-date export normally creates all-day entries, without a chosen hour or reminder. Treat the due date as a planning marker and configure any reminder in the calendar after import if desired.

  • Expect an all-day date marker
  • Set reminders in the calendar if wanted
  • Keep appointments separate from tasks

3. Import once and verify

Follow the receiving calendar’s import process, then inspect a few events for title and date. If the file is imported twice, duplicate events can appear, so check before repeating an import.

  • Name the export with its date
  • Inspect the import result
  • Check for duplicates before retrying

Questions, answered.

Why are events shown as all-day?

The export represents task dates, not appointments with times. Set a time or reminder later only in the calendar you use.

How do I avoid duplicate imports?

Keep the exported file’s date in its name, import it once, and verify the results before trying again. Remove duplicates in the receiving calendar if needed.
